What is this medicine used for?
This medication is used for moderate to severe chronic pain.

How is this medicine taken?
Generally, adult doses are between 50 and 100 milligrams every 6 hours. It is important to follow your prescription directions carefully and you should not take alcohol with this medication.

What if I miss a dose?
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.

How is this medicine stored?
Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat and light.

Are there side effects?
This medicine is generally well tolerated. It commonly causes drowsiness and dizziness that may increase if taken with alcohol. It may also cause constipation, nausea and vomiting, or dry mouth.  If you experience these or other side effects that are bothersome to you, notify your doctor or pharmacist.

Are there precautions with this medicine?This medicine should be used with caution by patients with chronic respiratory disorders, liver disease, or low thyroid function. Also, those with a history of drug dependency should use this drug with caution.

Can I take this medicine if I’m pregnant or breast-feeding?
This medicine is not recommended for women during pregnancy or for use by nursing mothers. If you suspect that you may be pregnant, talk to you doctor.

Can I take this medicine with other medicines?
Possible drug interactions may occur with other sedating medications, pain medications, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, psychiatric medication, or medications that alter liver function.  Ask your physician or pharmacist if you are taking these drugs together.
