What is this medicine used for?
Celebrex is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of arthritis, such as joint pain, inflammation, swelling and stiffness. This medicine is not a cure for arthritis and provides relief only as long as one continues to take the medication.

How is this medicine taken?
Follow the directions given to you by your doctor. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Celebrex is generally taken once to twice daily. Continue to take this medicine even if you are feeling better.

What if I miss a dose?
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.

How is this medicine stored?
Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat and light.

Are there side effects?
Possibilities include cough, sore throat, fever, skin rash, sneezing, and swelling of feet, face, fingers and lower legs. Less common or rare side effects include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, and fatigue.

Are there precautions with this medicine?
Precautions include alcohol abuse and liver disease or any past history of liver involvement, since liver disease may be aggravated by this medicine. It is also recommended that Celebrex be used with caution if there is history of kidney disease, high blood pressure, asthma, or heart disease. Let your doctor know if you are allergic to aspirin or sulfonamides (sulfa drugs).

What about interactions with other drugs?
Drug Interactions with this medicine include the increasing effects of blood thinners (warfarin), decreasing the effects of blood pressure medicines (ace inhibitors), decreasing the effects of furosemide (Lasix). If you are taking lithium or fluconazole, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Celebrex can be safely used with low-dose aspirin, but may increase the chances of stomach ulcers or other complications.

Can I take this medicine if I’m pregnant or breast-feeding?
Talk to your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant. This medicine should not be used if you are pregnant. This is unknown whether this medicine is excreted in human breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while taking this medicine.
